FSC louro itauba is available in modest quantities in the forest of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. The large trees reach about 40 m high, with a diameter till 80 cm. The trunk is straight and cylindric. It is only possible to produce limited dimensions.
Appearance:
The colour of the heartwood varies from yellow/beige to blackbrown, darkening after exposure. The wood has a greasy touch due to the resins. Darker spots or parts can be found in the wood. The sapwood is easy to distinguish. The grain is straight, and sometimes irregular. The texture is fine.
