FSC jacareuba is regulary available in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region in the north of Brazil. The trees have a diameter up to 1,5 m and can reach 50 m. The sapwood is a few cm wide. The trunk has a straight shape. It is possible to produce larger dimensions in sawn wood.
Appearance:
The heartwood is pinkish beige with small darker veins. The sapwood is easy to distinguish. The grain is curved and often interlocked. The texture is medium coarse.
Working properties:
Machining goes easy, with a smooth result (also with interlocked grain). Finishing and gluing are reported to be good. Pre-drilling is recommended. Jacareuba has a tension to split. Drying must be done with care to avoid checking and deformation.
