FSC Fava tamboril is available in limited quantities in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region in Brazil. The trees have a straight and cylindric shape, with diameters up to 100 cm. The sapwood is 3 -6 cm wide.
Appearance:
The heartwood is light brown with a remarkable stripy pattern. Darker zones are frequently found in this wood. The sapwood is white and easy to distinguish. The grain is straight, sometimes a little curved or interlocked. The texture is medium coarse.
Working properties:
The working properties are good. Finishing and glueing are reported to be good. Pre-drilling is advised. The wood dries quickly with less defects.
Durability:
Above ground: very durable, Ground contact: less durable
Uses:
Fava tamboril can be used for:
Interior: e.g. joinery, window frames, doors, door frames
Exterior: e.g. above ground applications like cladding and sheds
