FSC copaiba is available in modest quantities in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. The trees have a diameter of about 45-80 cm, with a few centimeters wide sapwood. Some extractives from this species are used for medicinal applications.
Appearance:
The sapwood has a beige brown colour darkening to red-brown. The dark veins give it a lively appearance. The pale grey sapwood is sharply demarcated. Copaiba contains a dark resin, which can bleed. The grain is mainly straight and the texture is medium coarse.
Working properties:
Machining goes well, with a smooth result. gluing and finishing is reported to be good. Drying goes quickly without much risks.

Uses:
Copaiba can be used for interior uses like furniture (decorative pattern). It can also be used for exterior application, but the risk of bleeding has to be taken into account.
