FSC breu vermelho is regular available in the forest of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. The straight and cylindric trunk has a diameter till about 75 cm. The sapwood is a few cm wide.
Appearance:
The timber has fresh cut a light brown to pink brown colour. Sometimes with dark brown stripes. The grain is straight, sometimes interlocked or irregular. The texture is fine to medium coarse.
Working properties:
Machining goes easy, although there can be a slight blunting effect due to the silica content. The end product gets a smooth result. Gluing and finishing are reported to be good. Predrilling is recommended. Fresh timber is sensitive for end checking. But with professional kiln drying there will be less defects.

interior: e.g. mouldings, carpentry, window and door frames
exterior: e.g. cladding, and garden timber (not in ground contact)
