Accurate planning and precise documentation are essential elements of sustainable forestry
All relevant botanical and topographical data are collected systematically. Thus, every tree with a diameter of 50 cm (and in certain cases, 20 cm) is identified, marked and recorded in computer files. Constituting a unique database, this elaborate documentation assists in the optimal planning of the whole harvesting procedure, from the initial selection of trees to be harvested, the designation of preservation areas, the construction of roads and skid trails, to the sawmill and production operations and the marketing effort.
These data also form an extremely valuable basis for scientific study, such as the long-term observation of species composition and vegetation development.
