FSC Escorrega de macaco is available in limited quantities in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. The tree is related to the well known species Purpleheart and has corresponding properties.
Appearance:
The heartwood don't has the purple colour like purpleheart but is more reddish brown, with not more than a purple shade. This is sometimes visible directly after moulding but quickly changes into brown. The sapwood is easy to distinguish. The grain is mainly straight and the texture is fine.
Working properties:
Despite the high density machining goes well Pre-drilling is recommended. With gluing and finishing are no experiences known. Drying goes slowly with a tension to small checks.
