FSC modesipe is available in limited quantities in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. The tree reaches about 40 m high, with a maximum diameter of 1 m. Trunks with a diameter above about 60 cm are often hollow. The trunks are mainly straight and cylindric.
Appearance:
The heartwood has a beige brown colour with a green shade. Sometimes small black stripes appear. The sapwood is easy to distinguish. The grain is straight to sometimes irregular or interlocked. The texture is medium coarse.
Working properties:
Machining goes well and the surface will get smooth. Pre-drilling is recommended. Gluying and finishing are reported to be good. Drying must be done with care to avoid checking and warping.

Modesipe is mainly used for garden timber like decking and fencing.
