Uchi torrado Print E-mail
Source: FSC Uchi torrado is regulary available in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. The trees reach up to 30 meters with diameters of about 60-80 cm. The trunks have a lengths of about 9 m. Uchi torrado has a zone of juvenile wood between the heartwood and the sapwood.
Appearance: The heartwood has a greyish brown to red brown colour. The juvenile wood is a bit lighter or more greyish brown. The sapwood is easy to distinguish. The grain is straight, sometimes irregular or interlocked. The grain is medium coarse.
Working properties: Machining goes well - despite the high density - with a smooth result. Pre-drilling is recommended. Finishing is reported to be good. With gluing are less experiences. Drying goes moderately quickly with a tension to checking and warping.
Durability: Durable
Uses: Uchi torrado is mainly used in exterior applications, like bridges, jetties, boardwalks, stairs, sound bariers and poles.
