FSC Tento is available in limited quantities in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. The dimensions of the trees depends on the botanical species. Usually the trees reach up to about 30 m, with diameters of 40-70 cm. The shape of the trunks is straight and cylindrical.
Appearance:
The heartwood is yellow brown to orange brown with a remarkable light coloured stripy pattern. The sapwood (about 3-15 cm) is easy to distinguish. The grain is often interlocked or irregular. The texture is coarse and sometimes ringlos.
Working properties:
Machining goes well, when taking care of the irregular / interlocked grain. Pre-drilling is necessary. Gluing and finishing are reported to be good. The wood dries easy without special drying defects.
Durability:
Ground contact: Slightly durable, Above ground: very durable
Uses:
Tento can be used very well in outside applications, like cladding, decking and walkways.
