FSC pau amarelo is available in very small quantities in the forests of Precious Woods, located in the Amazon region of Brazil. This species can be found In regions where in the past were bush fires. The tree has a diameter up to 120 cm and reaches up to 40 m high, with a cylindric shape. It is also possible to produce larger dimensions in sawn wood.
Appearance:
The heartwood has a bright yellow colour, slightly darkening after exposure. It has a nice lustre and a uniform structure. The sapwood is less easy to distinguish. The grain is mainly straight, sometimes irregular. The texture is fine.
Working properties:
Machining goes wel with a smooth result. Pre-drilling is advised. With gluing and finishing are good experiences. Drying goes quickly with less risks.

Uses:
Because of the nice appearance, pau amarelo is used for interior uses like flooring and furniture. It is also used sometimes for applications like doors, window frames and cladding.
